The story of ” Making Japanese Stamp”. 
She got a new job 2 months after she came to Japan from Canada.
She needs a stamp and a bankbook for having a budget account.
So, dive into a stamp shop, and order a stamp.
She said "Hanko wo, Tsukutte Kudasai please!"
Then, the clerk of the shop said " Please go to the bank first. Let's make your stamp which the bank recognize OK."
(Perhaps the clerk had no experience of making the stamp for foreigners, so the clerk said kindly.)
So she went to the bank and ask “How should I make my stamp face?”
Bank clerk answered with smile "Everything! Your favorite stamp face are OK, if we can see your family name or full name."
She went to the shop again.
And she selected the words in katakana "バラノバ（Baranova）" and ordered a stamp.
After a few days, she went to the stamp shop.
Her stamp has been made already.
She spend 1000 yen for the stamp.
She back to her house and was flying high.
Now, I can get the Japanese culture symbol “HANKO(Stamp)”.
So glad she felt , she want to showed it to her friends.
But they couldn’t pronounce her family name correctly when they saw the stamp. They pronounced “Nobabara”, and not to say Baranova. (Stamp No.3)
Why? She couldn’t understand.
So, she went to the stamp shop again.
And She said “I want change the stamp. Because all my friends pronounced “NOBABARA.”. Please make new one which my friends can pronounce “BARANOVA”".
She selected the words in katakana "バラノバ（Baranova）" and allayed holizontaly. She ordered next stamp. (Stamp No.4)
Stamp shop made new one for her.
The clerk thought that the stamp for Gaijin is very difficult!
After several days, she went to the shop again and get her new stamp. The clerk was cranky.
She couldn’t understand why is cranky, and don’t accept the money for new stamp.
The dog began to bark loudly when he felt strange and scare. Words were exchanged over the money with Gaijin and the clerk.
The Canadian girl confused and embarrassed completely.

A sequel to the story When we make an official stamp of four letters, Japanese “Hanko”(Stamp) shop array 4 character from "upper right, lower right, upper left, bottom left".
But friends of Canadian girl are all young. They are familiar with characters such as mobile phones and PCs. Those are all arrayed horizontally.
Newspapers, many books, official documents, and novels are written vertically. It is also obvious that a stamp character is written vertically in Japan.
Therefore,
I explained to her that, the calligraphy ,traditional letters have been written vertically in Japan.
We have two ways to write characters and the vertical way is used as the official stamp.
Finally, she understands the culture crash.
Her face become smiling as usual.
I hope she’ll get a bank account today.
